The Government of the Russian Federation supported fines for “childfree propaganda”
The Government of Russia supported the bill on the introduction of punishment for “propaganda of refusal to give birth” – by analogy with “LGBT propaganda”.
For spreading neutral or positive information about ChildFree, Russians will face a fine of up to one hundred thousand rubles, legal entities – a fine of up to one million rubles and suspension of work for three months. If the information is intended for minors, distributed via the Internet or mass media, fines will be doubled. And if for minors, and via the Internet – in four.
According to officials, the initiative is “aimed at preserving and strengthening traditional values and creating an effective mechanism for their protection.”
State Duma deputy from “United Russia” Elvyra Aitkulova was the author of the bill on the prohibition of “childfree propaganda”. She is 51 years old, has two daughters and a granddaughter. Aitkulova banned negative reactions to her posts in Telegram, including those with the NetChildfree hashtag.
