The Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Republic, Karel Rzehka, admits the possibility of war between Russia and NATO. According to him, “Russia is on the trajectory of conflict with the alliance.” He stated this at the conference on internal security and stability of the state, which was held on Monday in the Chamber of Deputies.
Rzehka also reminded that the Czech Republic is a member of NATO. This gives both advantages and imposes certain obligations on the country. “If the war starts, we will be active participants from the first moment,” said Rzehka.
The Chief of the General Staff believes that preparation and deterrence are necessary to prevent a conflict. According to him, the army is trying to prepare for a potential high-intensity conflict with a technologically advanced enemy.
If the war starts, most of the army will go to fight in accordance with the plans of the alliance, Rzehka emphasized. The rest of the military, which will not participate in operations abroad, will continue to operate in the Czech Republic to provide rear support.
