The International Aviation and Space Show (MAKS) will not be held at the Zhukovsky airfield near Moscow this year. This is reported by TASS with reference to sources. According to them, the final decision to cancel the event will be made on May 25, but preparations for the flight program have already been stopped.
XVI MAKS was supposed to take place from July 25 to 30. This is the main Russian forum in the field of aircraft construction and space technologies. It has been held every two years since 1993. The purpose of its implementation is the demonstration of Russian achievements in these areas and the conclusion of new agreements with foreign partners. Airshows with the participation of Russian and foreign aerobatic groups take place within the salon.
The newspaper “Kommersant” also confirmed the information. According to her sources, the cancellation is due to security concerns. The salon will be postponed to 2024.
