The Kyiv City Council may cancel the decision on the construction of a military cemetery on Lysia Gora

The draft decision on the cancellation of the construction of the military cemetery on Lysia Gora was published on the website of the Kyiv City Council. This was reported in the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center. Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appealed to the capital authorities with a request to change the location of the cemetery. Later, the Land Commission of the Kyiv Council also refused to arrange a cemetery on Lysia Gora. The Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center filed a lawsuit for the protection of the protected object and the monument of cultural heritage of national importance Lysa Gora. As reported in the center, the draft decision appeared on the website of the Kyiv City Council two days after the capital’s district administrative court began considering the case. Draft decision of the Kyiv City Council “Apparently, the officials of the KMDA realized that they would lose in court and therefore decided to cancel the scandalous decision themselves. Thus, it is no longer important who will reach the finish line first. Or the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center (KECC), canceling the decision of the Kyiv City Council in the courts, or the Kyiv City Council itself, canceling its scandalous decision at the session. The main thing is that Lysa Gora will soon be saved,” the organization says. Lysa Gora is still undeveloped. The initiator of this proposal was the Cabinet of Ministers, which instructed the KMDA to develop a corresponding project and a detailed plan of the territory. The Cabinet of Ministers planned to start construction in April, and at the end of 2023, the memorial complex was supposed to be operational. Kyivans supported the petition demanding a change of place for the memorial burial, but Vitaliy Klitschko rejected it. Representatives of various subcultures, Tolkienists, and pagans traditionally hold meetings on Lysia Gora in Kyiv. In addition, Lysa Gora is a regional landscape park and part of a nature reserve fund, the land user of which is the National Historical and Architectural Museum “Kyiv Fortress”.
