The team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation with the support of Nokia is launching a pilot project to modernize Internet networks in Ukraine. This is reported by the Ministry of Statistics.

“As part of the project, we will renew telecom equipment and ensure the transition to energy-independent Internet networks. They are more protected and resistant to shelling and blackouts. This will allow Ukrainians to be in touch even under critical conditions, and providers will not put their employees at risk,” the message says.

It is noted that 20% of the territory of Ukraine was under occupation and needs full restoration of the destroyed digital infrastructure.

First stage

At the first stage of the project, an assessment and analysis will be carried out. Further — design of modernized networks, construction and upgrading of equipment.

To launch the pilot project, 6 settlements in Kherson, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Sumy and Chernihiv regions are considered.

The first region in which the project is planned to be deployed is Kherson.

“After the pilot launch in several settlements, we plan to scale up the initiative. To make Ukrainian communications more stable and energy-independent,” the Ministry of Statistics added.
