The Ministry of Health told in which cases anesthesia is free for patients

Ukrainians can receive anesthesia for free, as this service is covered by the Medical Guarantee Program. Such an opportunity is available in medical institutions that have signed an agreement with the National Health Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health informs. The department emphasizes that the service is available regardless of whether the operation is planned or urgent, as well as in the case of other surgical interventions, during diagnosis or treatment. Free anesthesia is provided for adults and children, both in long-term inpatient conditions and during one-day treatment. This includes, in particular, epidural analgesia and anesthesia for surgical interventions and postpartum obstetric procedures. Timely analgesia at all stages of diagnosis and treatment is included in the packages: “Dental care for adults and children”, “Inpatient care without surgical operations”, “Medical care for acute cerebral stroke”, “Medical care for acute myocardial infarction”, “Inpatient psychiatric assistance”, “Inpatient palliative care”, “Diagnosis and treatment of adults and children with tuberculosis in outpatient and inpatient conditions”. In addition, pain assessment and timely analgesia at all stages of diagnosis and treatment are included in the medical care package for newborns in complex neonatal cases. The Ministry of Health emphasizes that analgesia and mandatory anesthesia together with a doctor’s consultation are available free of charge during examinations for the early detection of oncology. Mandatory anesthesia is also necessary during all painful procedures prescribed for cancer patients and during radiological treatment of adults and children in inpatient and outpatient settings. Free pain relief is also provided in the “Treatment and support of patients with hematological and oncological hematological diseases” package. The service is available to children and adults in outpatient and inpatient settings. We remind you that Ukrainians with Parkinson’s disease can get the necessary medicines free of charge or with a partial co-payment, because they are included in the reimbursement program.
