The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced a search for foreign journalists for reports from Suja
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia announced a search warrant for seven foreign journalists because of their reports from Suja in the Kursk region. In relation to them, criminal cases have been initiated in Russia under the article on illegal crossing of the border. “Mediazon” drew attention to the cards in the search database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The agency is looking for CNN correspondent Nick Welsh, German Deutsche Welle employee Nicholas Conolla, Italian RAI journalists Stefana Battistina and Simona Traina, as well as Ukrainian mass media correspondents Natalya Nagornaya, Diana Butsko and Olesya Borovyk.
It was noted that Walsh made his report from a border crossing on the Russian-Ukrainian border and was on the Ukrainian side. He did not cross the border itself. The rest of the journalists visited Suzhe, occupied by Ukrainian troops, and its orchestras.
The Russian authorities condemned the actions of foreign journalists. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia expressed a protest to the Italian ambassador in Moscow. The agency stated that the journalists violated Russian legislation and “elementary rules of journalistic ethics.”
- The Ukrainian army entered the territory of the Kursk region of Russia on August 6. Since that day, fighting has continued in the region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces claim control over dozens of settlements, including the district center of Suja. The Russian authorities either deny such information or do not comment on it.
