The number of road accidents involving children has increased in Ukraine – Opendatabot



During the eight months of 2023, compared to the same period in 2021, there were 7% more traffic accidents in Ukraine in which children were injured or killed. Over 2,600 such accidents occurred during this period, Opendatabot reports. In the period from January to August 2023, 116 children died as a result of road accidents, and more than 3,000 children were injured. According to Opendatabot, for the third year in a row the Lviv region is the leader of the anti-rating among regions in terms of the number of road accidents involving children. Photo: kalinovsky/Depositphotos Over the past eight months, 275 such accidents have occurred there – 12% more than the corresponding period in 2021. “This is 10% of the total number of such road accidents in the country,” the company says. The second and third places are occupied by Dnipropetrovsk Oblast – 208 accidents, and Kyiv Oblast – 198. “In 2023, the number of road accidents with fatalities and injuries that happened precisely because of children increased – 433 such incidents in eight months.
