The person accused of the attempt on Prilepin was sentenced to life imprisonment

The State Prosecutor’s Office asked to sentence Alexander Permyakov, accused of an attempt on the writer and politician Zakhar Prilepin, to a life term in a special regime colony. This is reported by “Mediazona”.

Prosecutor Nadezhda Tikhonova asked that Permyakov spend the first 10 years of his term in prison and also pay a fine of one and a half million rubles. She called the “colossal” public danger of the crime and declared about “strong antisocial attitudes” in the accused.

Prilepin himself did not participate in the debate and asked Permyakov to be punished “according to the law.” Permyakov also did not speak out in the debates.

  • On May 6, 2023, Prilepin’s car was blown up near Nizhny Novgorod, as a result of which he was injured, and his driver Alexander Shubin was killed. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article about the terrorist attack.
  • Later, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reported on the detention of the alleged perpetrator of the terrorist attack, Alexander Permyakov, a native of Donetsk Oblast. According to the detainee, Ukrainian special services recruited him to kill Prilepin. At the same time, the Russian mass media reported that Permyakov had previously served in the divisions of Donetsk separatists supported by the Kremlin.
