The president of Iran will soon come to Russia for the BRICS summit
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian intends to come to Russia in October to participate in the summit of the BRICS interstate association, which, in addition to Iran and Russia, includes seven more states, including Brazil, China, India and South Africa.
Iranian mass media reported on Pezeshkian’s upcoming trip on Sunday with reference to Tehran’s ambassador in Moscow. The visit became known against the background of even greater tension in relations with the West, connected with military cooperation between Russia and Iran.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed last week that Russia, waging war against Ukraine, received a batch of short-range ballistic missiles from Iran. Blinken emphasized that contacts between the two countries threaten wider European security.
The USA, Germany, France and Great Britain announced new sanctions against Iran. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of this country, Abbas Arakchi, insists that Tehran did not supply missiles to Moscow, and that the sanctions imposed by the United States and three European countries against Iran are not a solution to the problem.
The next BRICS summit will be held in Kazan on October 22-24.
