Alexey Soldatov, the former Deputy Minister of Communications of Russia and co-founder of Runet, recently had a serious deterioration in his health. His son, journalist Andrey Soldatov, reported this on X social networks. “My father is dying in prison. He is terminally ill, he has been there since July 22,” Soldatov’s son writes.

According to his son, Soldatov Sr. does not receive proper treatment in prison. At the end of August, Alexey Soldatov’s temperature rose and lung problems began. Ego was transferred to the hospital at the “Matrosskaya Tishina” pre-trial detention center. “It didn’t help. At the same time, the prison medical commission found my father healthy enough to remain behind bars. Now they want to transfer him back to the cell,” Andrey Soldatov said. In conclusion, he calls the father’s further maintenance a “death sentence.”

Eva Merkacheva, a member of the Council on Human Rights under the President of Russia, noted that Soldatov Sr. underwent two oncological operations, suffers from chronic heart failure and a number of other serious ailments, including the respiratory system.
