The USA will hand over money confiscated from a Russian oligarch to Ukraine

The USA will hand over $5.4 million confiscated from a Russian oligarch to Ukraine. The funds will be used to compensate for the damage caused to Ukraine by the aggression of the Russian Federation. This will be the first transfer of confiscated Russian assets for use in Ukraine. This was reported by the General Prosecutor of Ukraine Andrey Kostin in the Telegram channel.

According to him, the process of transferring funds has already begun.

“Thank you to my friend, US Attorney General Merrick Garland and his team. For the first time in history, the transfer of confiscated Russian assets in favor of the restoration of Ukraine has been agreed. I know it’s only the beginning. I believe that over time there will be no place in the civilized world for Russian oligarchs and their blood-earned wealth,” Kostin noted.

Let’s remind

Earlier in the USA, the court allowed the prosecutor’s office to confiscate $5.4 million belonging to the sanctioned Russian businessman Konstantin Malofeev.

The US authorities accused Malofeev, who is the owner of the “Orthodox” television channel “Tsargrad TV”, in financing separatists in Crimea.
