In Chelyabinsk, the first criminal case regarding the “justification” of the May 3 drone attack on the Kremlin was initiated. The suspect – 40-year-old local resident Alexey Sidorov – while in a public place, started a YouTube broadcast on his smartphone, during which, according to the investigation, he spoke approvingly about the incident. It is emphasized that Sidorov was drunk.

The investigation considers that by his actions, Sidorov “encouraged the implementation of terrorist activities, publicly justified and promoted a terrorist act.” A criminal case for justifying terrorism has been initiated against him. Punishment under this article can be up to seven years in prison.

On May 12, the Traktorozavod District Court of Chelyabinsk chose Sydorov as a preventive measure in the form of two months’ imprisonment. The defense insisted on house arrest.

In addition, in two days, Sydorov was entered into the register of “terrorists and extremists”.

  • On the night of May 3, two unmanned aerial vehicles were spotted over the dome of the Senta Palace in the Moscow Kremlin. The drones were disabled by the military and special services. There was a small fire on the dome. There are no victims. The Kremlin called the attack a planned terrorist act and an attempt on the President of Russia on the eve of the Victory Day celebration.
