On March 23, law enforcement officers seized a 5-month-old baby from his mother in an abandoned building in the Pechersk district of Kyiv. The juvenile police told the story of the family and explained why they had to take the child away from the woman. The child’s mother is 36-year-old Nadia (name changed for security reasons) from the Dnipropetrovsk region. At the age of 2, she became an orphan, so she lived in the care of another family. The police say that the woman has other children from different men. The second child was taken into custody by her relative, and Nadiya herself was deprived of parental rights (there were reasons )”, the message says. She gave birth to her youngest child in Kyiv. During pregnancy, doctors noticed that the woman had problems with alcohol and drug use. Later it turned out that she has neither housing nor relatives in Kyiv, and lives with a roommate at his friend’s hostel. The woman does not want to return home to the Dnipropetrovsk region. To help the mother of many children, she was provided with psychological support and offered temporary housing – a social apartment. However, she refused the services. In early October, volunteers took her to the rehabilitation center,” the police said. The woman and her son were in the rehabilitation center from the beginning of October 2022 to March 16, 2023. The woman said that she ran away from the rehabilitation center from the Poltava region because she did not like the “regime and rules of the internal procedure”. According to experts, the baby was not cared for properly – the child lived in completely unsanitary conditions; the mother did not wash her son, but wiped it with wet napkins. Later, the mother admitted that she did not want to and could not continue to raise her son and wrote a statement about giving up the child.
