The “Zvezda” TV channel belonging to the Ministry of Defense of Russia cut the video in which the head of the department, Sergei Shoigu, did not answer the question about when to expect peace in Ukraine. The Faridaily project of journalist Farida Rustamova drew attention to this.

The video of the reception after the talks between Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Kremlin, originally published on the Zvezdy Telegram channel, lasted 19 seconds, but it was shortened to 13.

Shoigu is recorded on the go answering questions from a TV channel journalist, including about how the war in Ukraine will end. “Any war ends in peace,” says Shoigu. “How soon can we count on him?” – asked the “Zvezda” correspondent. Shoigu silently turns aside and leaves, leaving the question unanswered.

  • Earlier, the Kremlin reported that, in addition to bilateral issues, Putin and Xi will discuss the plan for a peaceful settlement around Ukraine proposed by Beijing. In Kyiv, they claim that the Chinese plan is more likely to satisfy the interests of Russia, while the settlement of the conflict is possible only under the condition of the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine. The United States and the European Union have previously stated that the Chinese proposals to settle the conflict are more beneficial to Russia than to Ukraine.
