UGB (Ukrgasbank) issued the first loan in Ukraine to support veterans under the EBRD program
UGB (Ukrgasbank) issued the first loan in Ukraine within the framework of the pilot project “Reintegration of veterans and persons affected by the war”, which is implemented jointly with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The goal of this project is to help veterans adapt to civilian life and encourage businesses to facilitate their adaptation.
The first borrower was the agricultural enterprise “Agrofirma Dmytrivka” from Odesa, over 20% of whose employees are veterans. The company will implement a veteran-friendly personnel policy, as well as promote the adaptation and inclusion of veterans and persons with disabilities in every possible way.
The company directed the raised funds to purchase a Claas tractor, the use of which will contribute to more efficient and ecological economic activity.
Under the terms of the project, Agrofirma Dmytrivka can receive a grant (cashback) of up to 25% of the loan amount. Within the framework of the project, the company will also receive technical assistance for the implementation of policies and measures for the reintegration and support of veterans.
“Helping veterans return to civilian life is one of our priorities. Thanks to the joint project of UGB with the EBRD, our clients – veterans who have their own businesses and enterprises in which veterans work or are served, can receive financing for the development of their activities and grant support.
Work that brings satisfaction, development of one’s own business – this is what contributes to the reintegration of veterans.”– noted Rodion Morozov, Acting Director. Chairman of the Board of Ukrgasbank.
The project “Reintegration of veterans and persons affected by the war” is implemented within the framework of the “Program of competitiveness and inclusiveness of SMEs in the countries of the Eastern Partnership” and provides for the provision of loans and additional grants to borrowers who employ or serve veterans, as well as to borrowers whose owners or managers are veterans or close relatives of veterans/deceased defenders. The size of the grant for such enterprises is up to 30% of the loan amount.
In April 2024, the UGB supported an important initiative of the NBU and the EBRD by signing the Charter on Financial Inclusion and Reintegration of Veterans. In order to support and adapt Ukrainian war veterans, the bank is working on implementing a veteran policy, ensuring accessibility and inclusiveness, supporting clients who hire and serve veterans, etc.
The project is implemented with the financing of the European Union.
