Up to 7 years in prison: in Scotland it is proposed to punish men for bragging about “sex achievements” in public

In Scotland, it is proposed to criminalize misogyny – it is misogyny, prejudice and contempt for women. In particular, the legislators propose to punish men for loudly bragging about their sexual “gains” in public – they may face up to 7 years in prison. At the same time, women who sexually court men against their will or publicly discuss their “sex victories” will not be punished, reports The Telegraph. The Scottish National Party (SNP) is proposing five new laws to ban “abusive and degrading” behavior by men. The plans follow the findings of a misogyny inquiry funded by the Scottish Government. Baroness Helena Kennedy, a member of the British House of Lords, was paid £1,000 a day by the government to carry out this study. The politician published the results last year and said that men commit “abuses that destroy the lives of women” every day. People who incite “male supremacists” on the Internet will be able to be prosecuted for “inciting hatred” against women and girls. These are Andrew Tate-style bloggers who make provocative remarks about the opposite sex. Threats to rape, sexually assault or mutilate women will also become a separate crime. It is proposed to make misogyny an aggravating circumstance: if the crime has misogynistic motives or characteristics, it can attract a harsher punishment – just as it happens with crimes based on racism. The SNP is currently considering proposals to make misogyny offenses punishable. The maximum proposed punishment for “misogynistic harassment” or “misogynistic behavior” is 7 years of imprisonment. The report also adds that criminal liability will arise if “the criminal perceives his victim as a woman, regardless of her sex or gender.” We will remind you that last summer Ukraine ratified the Council of Europe Convention on the prevention of violence against women and domestic violence and the fight against these phenomena.
