The National Health Service of Ukraine told which medical services at the National Cancer Institute are free for patients under the Medical Guarantee Program. As they told “Ukrainian Pravda. Life” at NSZU, the institution was previously financed through a subvention from the Ministry of Health. Now the state will finance the costs of treating patients in specific areas, as the medical institution has signed an agreement with the NHSHU. The medical facility submitted proposals for the conclusion of a contract for 16 packages. Under these packages, patients will be able to receive the following medical services free of charge: packages for early detection of cancer (mammography, hysteroscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, cystoscopy, bronchoscopy); chemotherapeutic treatment; radiological treatment; inpatient palliative medical care for adults and children; mobile palliative medical care for adults and children; diagnosis, treatment and support of patients with hematological and oncohematological diseases; surgical operations in hospital conditions; surgical operations in hospital conditions of one day; medical assistance to adults and children in outpatient settings; inpatient care without surgical operations; ensuring the personnel potential of the health care system by organizing the provision of medical care with the involvement of intern doctors. Photo: [email protected]/Depositphotos What surgical operations can be performed at the NIR for free The NIR has onconeurosurgery departments and departments of minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery, interventional radiology. The onconeurosurgery department carries out: ◼ neurosurgical treatment of tumors of the brain, spinal cord and spine; ◼ operations for congenital malformations and brain and spinal cord tumors in children; ◼ surgical treatment of compression fractures in cancer patients (stabilization with titanium implants, vertebroplasty with bone cement, kyphoplasty); ◼ biopsies of brain and spine tumors, etc. In the department of minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery, interventional radiology, the following are performed: ◼ laparoscopic, minimally invasive operations for various forms of oncological pathology; ◼ reconstructive and restorative operations after primary surgical interventions; ◼ locoregional intrahepatic chemotherapy; ◼ radiofrequency, thermal ablation of metastases of parenchymal organs; ◼ diagnostic surgical interventions. The NIR provides a full range of services to patients under the Medical Guarantee Program, provided they have an electronic referral from a family doctor or attending physician. The NSHU emphasized that the cost of disposable instruments for some laparoscopic operations may not be reimbursed under the Medical Guarantee Program. However, the package includes payment for the work of doctors, and patients do not have to pay surgeons and anesthesiologists for the intervention. How to get a free CT and MRI in the NIR Computed tomography (CT)T and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are provided in a number of packages of the Medical Guarantee Program. The National Cancer Institute has a contract with the National Cancer Institute for 16 service packages. Of these, within six packages, CT and MRI (in particular, with intravenous contrast) are provided free of charge in both inpatient and outpatient settings: chemotherapy treatment; radiological treatment; treatment and support of patients with hematological and oncohematological diseases; inpatient care for adults and children without surgical operations; surgical operations for adults and children in hospital conditions (CT and MRI among additional requirements); prevention, diagnosis, monitoring and treatment in outpatient settings. CT scan or MRI can be done on the referral of the doctor with whom the declaration was made or the attending physician. Or go to a doctor who has a patient with chronic diseases under medical supervision. Also, the service is free of charge in case of self-referral in an emergency. A referral is not required for inpatient treatment. However, CT and MRI are performed only on the prescription of the attending physician. If the patient has a confirmed diagnosis in another medical institution, but he wants to get a second opinion from a specialist doctor. To do this, you need to get a referral from the attending physician and undergo a diagnosis at the National Cancer Institute. NIR accepts primary patients by electronic referral from family doctors or oncologists of regional cancer centers. How to make an appointment for a consultation or diagnosis at the National Cancer Institute? In order to receive medical care at the National Cancer Institute, you should make an appointment through the institute’s call center at 044 293 21 50. The patient will be offered to choose the day and time of the visit. You can immediately contact the polyclinic registry with electronic referral. However, it will take more time.
