Ukrzaliznytsia decided to create separate women’s compartments and test this innovation for several months. This was reported by Oleksandr Shevchenko, head of communications and marketing of the passenger route of “Ukrzaliznytsia”, who later deleted his post. According to him, women’s compartments will be installed on long-distance routes, however, it is currently unknown which routes we are talking about. Women, transwomen, mothers with children up to 6 years old of any gender will be admitted to such compartments, however, he noted that “this dialogue is still open.” There is no need to pay extra for the women’s compartment. On the company’s website, it was noted that the railway is working on comprehensive improvement of travel safety and plans to test women’s compartments. “We believe a set of measures where panic buttons and alarms in the compartment, video surveillance, increased patrolling and inevitable punishment for any proven manifestation of harassment will play a key role in eradicating this phenomenon. Therefore, the current solution of the railways is to help women feel more comfortable and safer with of a complex of events, one of which will be a “pilot” with women’s compartments”, said Yevgeny Lyashchenko, chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia. We will remind you that earlier women began to share their experience of staying in shared compartments on the network, and a corresponding petition was registered on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
