In the Omsk region, FSB border service officers detained a resident of Chechnya, Yasin Mukhmad-Emievich Khalidov, who was trying to leave the country and cross the border with Kazakhstan. According to Novaya Gazeta, 19-year-old Khalidov previously served in the police of Chechnya and the Russian Guard, and was also sent to the war with Ukraine, but he repeatedly tried to resign from the service.

After a five-hour interrogation, Yasin Khalidov was taken to the office of the Omsk Ministry of Internal Affairs. It is not known whether the detainee has been charged with any charges.

According to the publication, in 2021, when Khalidov was 17 years old, relatives arranged for him to serve in the local police, despite the lack of even a school leaving certificate. As an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in particular, he was engaged in operational work to identify and detain residents of Chechnya, including those with a tendency to extremism. In 2022, the young man was transferred to the Russian Guard, and already in September he was sent on a business trip to the war. All four months that he spent in Ukraine, he allegedly tried to resign from the service, citing the need to take care of his sick mother. After returning to Chechnya, he was unofficially detained on suspicion of disloyalty and threatened with the initiation of a criminal case on terrorism.

Khalidov was able to escape from the territory of one of the divisions of the Chechen police, where he was detained, and left the republic at the end of January of this year. He turned for help to local bloggers Ibrahim and Baisangur Yangulbayev, who call themselves human rights defenders. The former policeman hoped that he would be helped to leave Russia and agreed to provide information about his service in the local Ministry of Internal Affairs. After the announcement of this interview on social networks, Khalidov’s relatives were visited by his former colleagues who began to threaten the family and demand information about the whereabouts of the young man.

Human rights defenders, whom Khalidov was able to contact after his detention in Omsk, said that he may be in danger, Sibir.Realii writes.
