Poland banned the entry and froze the assets of 365 citizens of Belarus

The Polish authorities recognized 365 citizens of Belarus as persons non grata. They are prohibited from entering the country and the Schengen zone in general, and their assets in Poland will be frozen.

The names of those included in the list of undesirable persons are not mentioned, but it is indicated that 159 of them are members of the Belarusian parliament, 76 are judges, seven are prosecutors, 32 are employees of local administrations, and 28 are military.

In addition, Poland will freeze the assets of another 20 companies and 16 individuals associated with Russian and Belarusian business. Of the individuals, 15 are Russians, and one is Belarusian.

This measure was a response to the sentencing of Belarusian journalist Andrzej Pochobut, a Pole by origin and an activist of the Union of Poles in Belarus. In February, the Grodno City Court sentenced him to eight years in a strict-regime prison on charges of inciting hatred, and the State Security Committee of Belarus put him on the list of terrorists.

Warsaw called the process politically motivated and described it as proof of the anti-Polish activities of the Belarusian authorities. Andrzej Pochobut appealed the sentence to the Supreme Court, but on May 26 the court decided to uphold the sentence.
