Against the background of the war with Ukraine, Russia increased its export of agricultural products

[ad_1]

In 2022, after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia earned 12% more from the sale of agricultural products than a year earlier. “Kommersant” writes about this with reference to the ITC Trade Map.

According to data, Russia exported $41.6 billion worth of food per hour. By the end of the year, its share in the global agricultural market increased to 2.1%. The growth in demand for Russian agricultural products is “partially explained” by the decrease in Ukrainian exports due to the full-scale invasion of Russia, Kommersant notes.

The main product of Russian agricultural exports is grain. On its sale in 2022, Russia earned more than 13 billion dollars. According to Rosstat data for the same year, Russia collected almost 30% more tons of agricultural crops than a year earlier – the results became a record. Bloomberg agency claimed, that Russia exported six million tons of wheat only from the occupied territories of Ukraine. Russia sold the Ukrainian crop to various countries, including Iran and Libya, Bloomberg wrote.

Officially, China, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Belarus, South Korea and Egypt buy most of Russia’s food. In 2022, the share of fish in Russian agricultural sales significantly decreased and the share of oil and fat production increased, Kommersant writes. At the end of the year, Russia took 17th place in the world ranking of agricultural exporters.

The first five places in this list are occupied by the USA, Brazil (in one hour its deliveries increased by 35%), the Netherlands, Germany and China. World food exports in 2022 became a record, exceeding two trillion dollars, according to data from the ITC Trade Map.
