Ukrainian pilots began training on Swedish Gripen aircraft

Ukrainian pilots began testing Swedish Gripen fighters. This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at a press conference with the Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson in Stockholm.

“We do not have an advantage in the sky. We do not have modern aircraft. The Swedish Gripen is the pride of your state. And I believe that the Prime Minister could share such pride with Ukraine. We will also be very proud of it. We are working on it “It is important that we have taken powerful steps. It is important that now for several weeks there will be retaliatory actions, which, I very much believe, will open up the opportunity to obtain the corresponding aircraft in the future,” UNIAN reports Zelensky’s words.

In addition, according to Zelensky, during the negotiations, the joint production of Swedish CV-90 BMPs on the territory of Ukraine was discussed.

“We will do everything possible so that the first CV-90 produced in Ukraine appears as soon as possible,” Zelensky said.

• Earlier on Saturday, August 19, Vladimir Zelensky arrived on a visit to Sweden. This is the first visit of the President of Ukraine to Sweden since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia in February 2022.
• On August 17, the Swedish parliament approved the transfer of a new aid package to Ukraine with a total cost of SEK 3.25 billion (approximately EUR 270 million). Kyiv is expected to receive ammunition and spare parts, as well as trucks and equipment for demining.
