The FSB accused an 18-year-old resident of Arkhangelsk of an attempted terrorist attack

A criminal case has been opened against 18-year-old resident of Arkhangelsk Mikhail Avdonin for attempted terrorist attack, “Vot Tak” reports. The FSB believed that he tried to set fire to a weapons warehouse on the territory of a military town.

According to the special service, on September 23, Avdonin bought gasoline and motor oil, arrived at the military town of military unit No. 21514, located in the Isakogorsk district of Arkhangelsk, made a “Molotov cocktail” there, and then threw it into a storage building. The FSB claims that they detained the young man at the scene of the crime with a warrant, as they had been following him before that.

The investigation considers that Avdonyn acted “at the behest of representatives of Ukrainian organizations opposing the forces of the Russian Federation.”

On Monday, it also became known that 18-year-old Perm college student Kirill Zamaleev, who has been in pretrial detention since September in connection with the failed arson of the military enlistment office, was included in the list of extremists and terrorists of Rosfinmonitoring.

According to the Perm department of the FSB, after the war in Ukraine, the student “became fascinated by the Internet resources of the opposition of the Russian government, and in August 2023 he planned to set fire to the military enlistment office of the Industrial and Dzerzhinsky districts of Perm, for which he bought charcoal and sodium nitrate. At the same time, according to the investigation, Zamaleev did not succeed in carrying out his plan, as he was detained earlier.

Recently, Russian investigative bodies and courts generally classify arson attempts at military enlistment offices as acts of terrorism or attempted attacks.
