In Petrozavodsk, a 19-year-old student was expelled from the College of Culture and Arts for making a joke while carrying the Russian flag on the ceremonial line.
As “Mediazona” reports, on September 1, three people carried the state flag of Russia on the square in front of the college building to the performance of the Russian national anthem. At that moment, sophomore Aleksandr Shimanov came out of the row of standing students and joined the marchers and imitated their marching band. As a result, he was released to the Pedagogical Council, where he was expelled.
Commenting on the reasons for the decision, the director of the college, Svetlana Medvedeva, said that the student “showed disrespect for the patriotic feelings of teachers and other students.” “Some students’ parents are in the SVO zone, there is a girl whose father died there, a number of teachers have relatives there. Of course, it was impossible to ignore this situation,” Medvedeva explained.
The Ministry of Culture of Karelia also stated that the student was expelled for the disrespect shown. “This was by no means a joke, but a violation of serious things,” the department considered.
Alexander Shimanov himself said that he did not intend to offend anyone with his actions, but only wanted to express his attitude to, in his opinion, stupid traditions. It is noted that he apologized to the board of directors, but it did not help.
Shimanov does not rule out that now, in connection with the dismissal, he may be taken into the army. “As soon as the conscription began, I am absolutely worthy, but I certainly wouldn’t want to serve at all,” he admitted.
