In Ivanovo, a former associate professor of the medical academy, Olga Nazarenko, an anti-war activist who was persecuted by the authorities for participating in protests, died in the intensive care unit of the city hospital. According to IvanovoNews, the cause of death was a fall from a height. Nazarenko died after spending two weeks in the hospital. It is confirmed that the incident was an accident, there are no details about the circumstances of the incident.

After the beginning of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine, Nazarenko, candidate of medical sciences, went out on single pickets with anti-war posters. She also posted anti-war leaflets and hung the Ukrainian flag on her house. A total of eight protocols on administrative matters were drawn up for it. In the autumn of last year, two criminal cases were opened against her – about the so-called repeated discrediting of the army and under the “Dada article” – about repeated violations of the order of holding public events. In October of last year, after the management of the medical academy received a letter from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, she was fired from her job. Nazarenko was under a restraining order, the trial in her case started in July.

– My choice is based on the fact that I can do more in terms of working with people in Russia than in emigration. I am not strong in information technologies, it is more convenient for me to talk with passers-by at street actions in the hope of conveying something to them. Russia is my country, and I cannot allow myself to be expelled from it. I have the right to my country and I do not want to leave Russia anywhere. I will stay here and do what I think is necessary, express my position. If I leave, I will feel bad because I got scared and ran away – answered Olga Nazarenko in an interview with Radio Svoboda when asked why she did not leave Russia.
