Resident of Krasnoyarsk, Pavlo Oleinikov, was sentenced to two years and three months of forced labor in the case of setting fire to a collection point for those mobilized in Novosibirsk. This is reported by Sibir.Realii with reference to the press service of the district court of the city.

Oleynikov was found guilty of attempted intentional destruction of property. According to the investigation, in 2023, an unknown person contacted the accused in a telegram and offered him to set fire to the property of a municipal organization for money.

On the night of March 6, Oleinikov broke a window and threw a bottle of incendiary mixture into the premises of the “Active City” coordination center. When the alarm went off, the security of the building arrived and extinguished the fire. Oleynikov was detained a few days later.

  • After the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the announcement of mobilization in Russia, the number of cases of arson of military enlistment offices, police departments, city administration offices and “United Russia” reception centers increased significantly. At first, the arsons were classified as property damage and hooliganism. Then the General Staff of Russia announced that cases of arson of military enlistment centers would be considered acts of terrorism and would be punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
  • In July, the edition of “Mediazon” wrote that half of the cases of arson of military enlistment offices in Russia are investigated under articles on terrorism.
