In Kamchatka, a local pensioner was prosecuted for his post about the Russian singer Shaman, in which he compared the performer to the Nazi boy from the movie “Cabaret”. This was reported by ASTRA telegram channel.
A criminal case was opened against a 69-year-old resident of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky under the article about propaganda of Nazi symbols. In his post, he stated that the performer Shaman looks like, as he put it, a member of the “Hitler Youth” from the Bob Fosse film “Cabaret”, and attached a clip of the film. In it, a young man with blond hair and a swastika on his sleeve sings the song “The future belongs to us.” The employees of the law enforcement agencies considered that the pensioner who posted this fragment publicly demonstrated “Nazi symbols in the form of a swastika, the coat of arms of the Third Reich and the Nazi party salute.”
Earlier in Blagoveshchensk, the court fined 1,500 rubles to former LDPR deputy Sergei Trush, who also compared Shaman to the Nazi boy from “Cabaret” and posted the same fragment of the film. He was found guilty under the administrative article on the demonstration of Nazi symbols.
The film “Cabaret” is based on the Broadway musical of the same name. Its events take place in Berlin in 1931 against the backdrop of the Nazis’ gradual rise to power in Germany. The picture was awarded many awards, including eight Oscars in 1973.
