The person accused of spying on the military commander Kots was sentenced to a year in the colony

A court in Moscow sentenced Leonid Gutarov, a 28-year-old resident of the capital, to one year of general regime prison and a ban on the administration of Internet resources for two years in the case of spying on the pro-Kremlin military commander Alexander Kots.

Gutarov was found guilty of violating privacy. According to the investigation, the Muscovite collected information about Kots for a reward, followed his home, and also tried to obtain information about his professional activities through the wife of a military commander. It is noted that Gutarov admitted his guilt.

Kots himself expressed the assumption that the surveillance of him could be connected both “with the Ukrainian theme” and “with the mental balance” of the accused.

• Alexander Kots is a military correspondent for “Komsomolskaya Pravda” and the owner of a telegram channel popular in pro-military circles. The countries of the European Union, Great Britain, Canada, Australia and Ukraine included him in their sanctions lists for involvement in the “spread of Russian disinformation and propaganda” and support for an aggressive war. Last year, Vladimir Putin appointed Kots a member of the Council on Human Rights under the President of Russia.
