The SC opened a criminal case due to the shutdown of the heating system in Podolsk

The Office of the Investigative Committee for the Moscow Region opened a criminal case on the fact that the heating was turned off in Podolsk. There, part of residential buildings and administrative buildings remain without heat and hot water for more than three days. At the same time, there are twenty-degree frosts in the Moscow region. Local authorities introduced a local state of emergency.

In the report of the Investigative Committee, it is indicated that the shutdown occurred due to a rupture of the heating lines. The breakthrough itself, the document says, happened “as a result of improper operation of the boiler room by the employees of the closed joint-stock company.” The agency clarifies that it is conducting searches in the organization servicing the boiler house and interrogating the management.

The disconnection of heat supply and hot water in the Klimovsk microdistrict of Podolsk occurred on January 4. Electricity was also lost in some houses. On January 5, a spontaneous protest was held in Klimovsk. Residents complained that the temperature in their apartments dropped to 10 degrees.

The Yuri Andropov cartridge factory is located in Klimovsk – it is one of the largest cartridge production enterprises in Russia. The authorities of the Moscow region attributed the problems to the fact that Klimovsk is “heated by one departmental boiler room of the local cartridge factory”.
