Putin pardoned a serial killer for his participation in the war in Ukraine

[ad_1]

Russian President Vladimir Putin pardoned a prisoner convicted of murdering three people for his participation in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, Mediazona reports.

As the publication found out, in 2013-2014, a resident of the Volgograd region, Denys Zubov, first killed his ex-girlfriend, then her lover, and then a certain pensioner who, in fact, turned out to be an accidental victim. The criminal dismembered corpses, allegedly to pass himself off as a maniac and confuse the investigation.

In March 2017, a jury found Zubov guilty, and the Volgograd Regional Court sentenced him to 21 years in a penal colony.

Already in prison, the convict signed a contract with PMC “Wagner” and went to fight in Ukraine, where he died in April last year – presumably in the battles for Bakhmut.

  • In the summer of 2022, after several military defeats on the territory of Ukraine, the Russian army and private military companies began to recruit prisoners serving sentences, including those for committing serious crimes. At first, PMC “Wagner” was engaged in this, then – the Ministry of Defense. In exchange for consent to participate in hostilities, a pardon is promised after six months of being on the front line. At the moment, it is already known about several dozen cases when the pardoned, returning from the war, again committed crimes, including murder and rape. The Kremlin believes that the prisoners rightly receive early release, as they “expense crimes with blood on the battlefield.”
  • The day before, it became known that Dmytro Karavaychik, a St. Petersburg citizen pardoned by Vladimir Putin for participating in the war with Ukraine, previously sentenced to 17 years in prison for the manufacture and sale of drugs in large quantities, became the deputy director of the Leningrad Border Fund. The fund was established by the governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko.

According to Karavaychyk, in it he deals with issues of security and distribution of humanitarian aid.
