50 billion euros for Ukraine: the EU expects to start payments in March

[ad_1]

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the EU aims to start payments in March within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program for 50 billion euros agreed last week.

As “European Truth” reports, this is what she is talking about wrote on Twitter (X).

The President of the European Commission welcomed the political agreement between the Council of the EU and the European Parliament regarding the allocation of 50 billion euros to Ukraine, calling it an important step forward.

“Europe is true to its word. We will continue to provide much-needed funding and predictability for our brave partner seeking membership.

We aim to start payments in March,” von der Leyen wrote.

The government previously also stated that Ukraine expects to receive the first tranche of macro-financial support from the EU in the amount of 4.5 billion euros within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program in March.

It will be recalled that last Thursday the EU leaders overcame the long-term opposition of Hungary and reached an agreement on the allocation of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros. The program is designed for four years.

The conclusions of the summit state that Ukraine will be able to receive funds if a number of prerequisites are met. It also says that EU leaders will debate the program every year, and after two years they can propose to the European Commission a review of the entire multiannual financial framework.
