The prosecutor’s office requested eight years of general regime prison for RusNews journalist Roman Ivanov in the case of “fakes” about the Russian army. This is reported by “Mediazona”.
The reason for initiating the case was the journalist’s posts on social networks – in them he wrote about the killing of civilians in Buch, about the UN report on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine and about the statement of the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, about the lack of missiles. Ivanov pleaded not guilty.
“I am a journalist, and my task is to provide readers with information. I provide it. And it undermines authority [военных] or does not undermine, it already remains up to the person who received the information, analyzed it. The main task is for him to have it, for him to know what is happening in the world around him, what decisions are being made,” Ivanov’s words are reported by “Mediazona”.
