Russia closed entry for 347 citizens of the Baltic countries

[ad_1]

Russia closed entry to its territory for 347 citizens from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The corresponding application with the attached list was published on March 12 on the department’s website. The reason for the ban on visiting Russia is the “hostile attitude” towards the country.

Among the “most hostile to Russia representatives of the Baltic countries” were ministers, members of parliament, public figures and journalists.

The list is headed by the former president of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga, followed by two dozen more names, among which are the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielus Landsbergis and the Prime Minister of Estonia Kaia Kallas.

“Active lobbying by Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia of sanctions measures against our country, interference in Russia’s internal affairs, persecution of the Russian-speaking population <...> as well as the criminal line carried out by the Baltic states to arm the Kyiv regime with weapons, require retaliatory measures against the persons involved in these crimes,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

  • After Russia’s attack on Ukraine, the United States and other Western countries condemned the invasion and imposed harsh sanctions against Moscow — state leaders, politicians, officials, and businessmen. As a rule, Russia announces retaliatory measures from its side.
