A court in St. Petersburg sentenced documentarian Vsevolod Korolev to three years in prison on charges of spreading fakes about the Russian army. This was reported by the correspondent of Sever.Realia.
The prosecution asked for 9 years of imprisonment for Korolev.
The queen was arrested in early July 2022. According to the investigation, in the spring of 2022, Korolev posted two posts on the VKontakte social network with false information about the actions of the Russian military in Donetsk, Buch and Borodyanka. Korolev did not deny the authorship of the posts, but did not agree with the accusation.
During interrogation in court, the documentarian said that he wrote posts on his VKontakte page so that people could learn an alternative opinion, different from the official reports of the Ministry of Defense. Korolev also insisted that he took information from open sources and mainly used eyewitness accounts.
