SC announced the detention of another suspect in the case of the terrorist attack in “Crocus”

The Investigative Committee of Russia announced the arrest of one more suspect in the case of the attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall near Moscow. The agency claims that the detainee “participated in the financing scheme” of the alleged perpetrators of the attack.

SC reported that it will apply to the court for the arrest of the new suspect. No meaningful details are provided.

The agency also said that it had received evidence of the connection between the attackers of “Crocus City Hall” and Ukrainian nationalists.

“At the disposal of the investigation, there are confirmed data about the receipt of significant sums of money and cryptocurrency from Ukraine by the perpetrators of the terrorist attack, which were used in the preparation of the crime,” – the SC press release states.

The evidence, as it is claimed, was obtained during the investigation of technical equipment seized from the detainees and with the help of the analysis of their financial transactions. The department did not provide any additional information.

An armed attack on visitors to “Crocus City Hall” took place on the evening of March 22. There were more than 6 thousand people in the building. The Afghan wing of the terrorist organization “Islamic State” announced its involvement. It published a video of the attack taken from a camera attached to the body of one of the shooters.

Russian President Vladimir Putin previously announced the Ukrainian trail in the case. It followed from his words that the investigation had no evidence to support this version. The Bloomberg agency, citing sources, reported that even the president’s entourage does not believe in this version. Kyiv denies any involvement in what happened.

After the events of March 22, a criminal case on terrorism was initiated in Russia. The Investigative Committee previously reported the detention of 12 suspects. It is known about the arrest of eight of them.
