“Delicious – and point” has applied for registration in Kazakhstan

The fast food chain “Vkusno – y tochka”, which replaced McDonald’s in Russia, which left in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, has applied for registration in Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan.

The department specified that now not a single trademark under the designation “Delicious – and full stop” is registered in Kazakhstan. Tengrinews found 12 applications for trademark registration. The company clarified that it submitted the applications “to protect the brand”, and it has no plans to enter the Kazakhstan market yet.

In January, the largest chain of McDonald’s fast food restaurants left Kazakhstan due to problems with meat supplies. According to the Bloomberg agency, McDonald’s prohibited its Kazakhstani franchisees from buying meatballs from Russian suppliers, and it was not possible to reach an agreement with local businessmen.

At that time, the owner of the chain “Delicious – and Point” Alexander Govor noted that the company’s work in the Kazakhstan market is still impossible due to the terms of the contract with McDonald’s. After submitting applications for brand registration in Kazakhstan, the network reported that there were no agreements with the company that managed the McDonald’s business in the country.

The general director of this company, Aset Mashanov, said that he does not plan to replace the former McDonald’s restaurants with “Delicious – full stop” and is already engaged in the development of the local brand.

“Delicious – and point” is a Russian network, it cannot be called that in our country unless it becomes a Russian network. That this will be a Russian network, we do not consider this issue,” said Mashanov.

  • In March, McDonald’s suspended its operations in Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine. In May, the company finally left the Russian market, selling the brand to businessman Alexander Govor.
  • The speech led to a rebranding – and since June, McDonald’s restaurants in Russia have opened “Delicious – full stop”.
  • In November, McDonald’s announced problems with deliveries to Belarus and withdrew from its market. On the same day, it became known that his Belarusian restaurants will operate under the Russian brand “Delicious – and point”.
