Last year, the banking sector was able to compensate for losses in the first half of the year and turn a profit.

“The profit decreased significantly compared to the record result of 2021, when banks earned 2.4 trillion rubles. At the same time, losses for the first half of 2022 exceeded 1.5 trillion rubles, mainly due to currency revaluation. However, in the second half of the year, the sector showed a monthly profit that reached 342 billion rubles in December,” the Russian publication writes.
