The National Bank estimates the monthly turnover of the gambling business in Ukraine at 12-15 billion UAH.

Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Dmytro Oliynyk told about this at the meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission on February 28.

At the same time, according to the State Tax Service, representatives of the gambling business paid only 730 million UAH for 2022, of which 66 million UAH – in the form of a single tax at the rate of 2%.

According to the DPS, for most of last year the gaming business avoided paying taxes using the miscoding scheme – when the bank sets a merchant code (MerchantCategoryCode) that does not correspond to the true type of activity.

However, after the NBU inspections began, tax payments increased sharply. So, if in 2021 the gambling business paid 204 million UAH in taxes, in 2022 – 730 million, and only in January 2023 – 269 million UAH.

Revenues to the budget from license payments during this time amounted to UAH 1.166 billion.

We remind you:

In early February, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a law on bans stay of the gambling business on the simplified taxation system.
