Opposition Russian politician Alexei Navalny, who is serving a criminal sentence in a colony in the Vladimir region, was sent to a penal institution for the 12th time. This is reported in the ego Telegram channel.
Navalny was placed in a detention center for 15 days for “misrepresenting himself”. The previous time he was sent to the detention center in January: then he also “misrepresented himself” to the colony employee. Before that, the reasons for the transfer of the politician to the SHIZO were, among others, an unbuttoned button and refusal to wash the fence.
The penitentiary is distinguished by particularly harsh conditions of detention. Navalny described it as a cell measuring two by three meters, where he has to sit on an iron stool. In the current post, he reported that there is boiling water and one book in the SHIZO, compared to an ordinary cell, where there is “coffee and two books.”
- In June 2022, Navalny was transferred from the general regime colony in Pokrovo to the strict regime colony in Melekhove. Navalny and his supporters consider the criminal prosecution to be political.
- In March 2023, supporters of the politician installed a copy of SHIZO at the Louvre in Paris. Previously, it was located at the Russian Embassy in Berlin. Since August 2022, Navalny spent more than a hundred days in such a cell, which led to a sharp deterioration in his health.
- In March 2023, the film “Navalny”, shot by the Canadian director Daniel Rohr, received the “Oscar” as the best full-length documentary film.
