Moscow artist Mumrykov was sentenced to 4 years in prison by the prosecution

The state prosecution requested 4 years of prison for the musician and artist Hryhoriy Mumrykov in the case of the failed rally in support of Ukraine on Red Square in Moscow on May 9, 2022.

This is reported by “Dozhd” with reference to the Telegram channel dedicated to Mumrykov’s case.

The artist is accused of attempted hooliganism. According to the investigation, he participated in the preparation of the action that his friend, the artist Danyla Tkachenko, wanted to hold. During the Victory Day parade, he was going to blow smoke in the colors of the Ukrainian flag in the center of Moscow. To do this, he installed smoke bombs in the air conditioners of the house on Tverskaya Street. Tkachenko was going to set the entire mechanism in motion remotely, from abroad, and on May 9, 70 blue and 70 yellow smoke bombs were supposed to light up simultaneously and somehow cover the participants of the parade with the Ukrainian flag. The action did not take place, since law enforcement officials learned about its preparation in advance.

Mumrykov reportedly pleaded not guilty. Tkachenko himself, who left Russia, said that Mumrykov did not even know about the action.

He was detained by unknown persons in civilian clothes on May 10, when he was leaving work. His friends who were traveling with him reported that the musician was hit several times, laid face down on the ground and a gun was put to his head. After that, the police came and took Mumrykov to the department. Mumrykov spent almost three months in the SIZO. On August 8, 2022, he was transferred from the SIZO to house arrest.
