A court in Moscow sentenced four members of the hacker group The Infraud Organization to conditional terms in the case of trading bank card data. This is reported by TASS.

According to the agency, the four defendants were found guilty under the article on the illegal circulation of payment funds committed by an organized group. The maximum punishment under this article is up to seven years of imprisonment. During the investigation, the hackers admitted their guilt, which served as a mitigating circumstance.

As the investigation found out, the brothers Mark and Konstantin Bergman created a trading platform no later than 2012, where it was possible to purchase the protected data of bank cards and social security numbers. They were later joined by Andrey Novak and Kirill Samokutyaev, as well as persons not identified by the investigation.

The hackers were detained in January last year. The court then sent Novak to the pre-trial detention center, and the others were placed under house arrest.

Andrey Novak was previously wanted in the United States on charges of cyber fraud. However, in the materials of the Russian court, the name of the group The Infraud Organization, which the US authorities accuse of embezzling half a billion dollars, was not mentioned at all, RIA Novosti noted at the time.

In February 2018, it was reported that law enforcement officers detained 13 people in the United States, accused of involvement in a criminal scheme, the damage from the actions of which amounted to at least 530 million dollars. Charges were brought (including in absentia) to 36 persons, citizens of several countries. Among them was the Russian Andrey Novak, whom the Russian mass media called the founder of the hacker group The Infraud Organization.

In March 2021, a court in Nevada sentenced Russian Sergei Medvedev to ten years in prison. According to the American authorities, he was also one of the co-founders of The Infraud Organization. During the trial, Medvedev pleaded guilty.
