The head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnykhanov, was refused entry to Moldova. He flew to the International Congress of People’s Diplomacy “Friendship of Nations – 2023”. However, Moldovan border guards did not allow him to leave the plane. According to Minnikhanov himself, the Moldovan authorities assigned him the status of an undesirable person. Now the plane with Minnykhanov has already taken off back from Chisinau to Russia.
Ivan Egorov, the head of the Ak-Bars holding, flew to the congress together with Minnykhanov. He was also recognized as an undesirable person and was not allowed to leave the plane.
Mynnykhanov flew to Moldova at the invitation of Viktor Petrov, the candidate for the head of the autonomous region of the Gagauzia region, and Alexander Sukhodolsky, the vice-chairman of the regional parliament, who recently visited Tatarstan.
The authorities of Moldova have not yet commented on this information. The newspaper “Kommersant” indicates that politicians and public figures of Gagauzia, where the congress is held in the city of Komrat, have repeatedly criticized the Moldovan government. Also, many of them support Russia’s actions on the territory of Ukraine.
