The ban on drones in the regions can bring 10 billion rubles in losses

The ban on drone flights in the regions of Russia after the attack on the Kremlin can bring losses of more than 10 billion rubles and return the industry to the level of 2018. This is reported by Kommersant.

In Moscow and St. Petersburg, industry losses may amount to about one and a half billion rubles if the ban lasts until the end of the year. Specialists in aerial photography and monitoring, who sell content in the field of services and real estate, will suffer losses. According to the general director of “Fly Drone” Nikita Danilov, not counting the capital regions, losses from the ban may amount to 10 billion rubles.

The head of the Aeronext association, Gleb Babintsev, believes that the ban on the use of drones will not have direct consequences for the industry, since drone operators in Moscow and St. Petersburg were previously required to obtain permits from the city’s transport department. At the same time, indirect consequences may appear in other regions, which will introduce a ban following the example of Moscow. Considering that there are already more than 40 such regions, the industry will return to the level of 2018, Babintsev believes.

According to Maxim Chizhov, CEO of Agrimax Aero, the agricultural industry will lose the most – about 2.4 billion. In agriculture, drones are used to monitor the condition of large areas of land.

As an alternative, experts suggest the introduction of a system for determining the route of a drone and its forced landing – if necessary.

  • After the attack of two drones on the Kremlin, more than 50 regions of Russia introduced a ban on the use of civilian drones. The Kremlin accused Kyiv of the attack, calling it a planned terrorist attack and an attempt on the Russian president on the eve of the Victory Day celebration. The Ukrainian side denies involvement in the attack.
  • State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein proposed introducing a moratorium on the use of drones “except for state needs.” He turned to the Ministry of Transport of Russia and Rosaviatsiya with a request to ban the use of, including land, underground, water and surface UAVs.
