The host of “Popular Politics” was banned from entering Turkey

Iryna Alleman, the host of the YouTube channel “Popular Politics” was not allowed to enter Turkey. The country’s authorities banned her from entering the country for five years because of “threats to national security.” Alleman herself reported this in her Telegram channel.

Last Friday, the Ministry of Justice of Russia added Alleman to the register of so-called foreign agents.

The presenter flew to Istanbul the day before. On this day, the second round of presidential elections was held in Turkey. Alleman was previously the author of a report on the first round.

According to her, at the passport control, she was given an additional check, after which she was informed of the refusal of entry and deportation due to a threat to national security. Alleman was not told what the threat was. She was sent on a flight to Slovenia – from this country she flew to Istanbul.

According to Alleman, the entry ban documents contain the date of May 25. She herself connects it with her reporting on the elections, many participants of which expressed support for the Turkish opposition, or with her inclusion in the register of “foreign agents” in Russia (she does not explain how this inclusion may be related to the decision of the Turkish authorities). There are no comments from the Turkish authorities.

Earlier, the Georgian authorities repeatedly denied entry to Russian oppositionists, activists, and journalists. In Turkey, similar cases have not been reported recently.

According to official data, the incumbent President Recep Erdogan won the elections in Turkey.

“Popular politics” is a channel launched by Alexei Navalny’s associates, whose content is mainly devoted to the war in Ukraine and protests in Russia.
