Novosibirsk activist appointed correctional labor for “fakes”

In Novosibirsk, the court appointed nine months of correctional labor to activist and member of the “Teachers’ Alliance” Iryna Tolmacheva in the case of “fakes” about the Russian army. This is reported by RusNews. The case was the first in Russia when a citizen was prosecuted for such an article because of a comment on a social network.
According to Tolmacheva, there was “no enmity or expression of hatred towards the police or the army” in the comment. It contained “arguments about the situation in Ukraine and its influence on the number of security forces.”
Police officers came to the activist on March 25, 2022. They broke down the door, and Iryna Tolmacheva was laid face down on the floor. She was provided with a lawyer by appointment, who advised her to write a rebuttal on her page and apologize to the Russian state.
At the court, Tolmacheva stated that because of the events in Ukraine, society and activists are under pressure, which could affect her activity in social networks. At the same time, the activist noted that she has not changed her opinion about the “special operation in Ukraine” and does not consider herself guilty, writes Sibir.Realii.
