Takhir Arslanov, a 67-year-old pensioner from Novosibirsk, was sentenced to three years in a general regime prison in the case of anti-war comments. This was reported by the Telegram channel of the political association “Novosibirsk 2020”.
The state prosecution asked for 6 years of imprisonment for Arslanov, he told the correspondent of Sibir.Realii.
Arslanov was immediately found guilty under the criminal articles of incitement to terrorism, extremism and mass riots.
At the meeting on August 2, the pensioner admitted his guilt. He added that he will not live in the colony for the period that the prosecutor asked him to do. The defense asked the court to choose a punishment without restriction of freedom.
The reason for the criminal prosecution of Arslanov was two of his comments in the VKontakte group “Volna peremen. Novosibirsk”, written in September 2022 after the announcement of mobilization. In the first, he called the Russian invasion of Ukraine “a war of conquest by Kremlin fascists”, in the second, he called for the burning of military enlistment offices.
According to the investigation, Arslanov feels “enmity and hatred towards Putin” and the “SVO” special military operation (that’s how the Russian authorities call the war in Ukraine). At the beginning of the invasion of Russia, the pensioner had a daughter in Kyiv, he told SOTAvision.
- A criminal case against the Novosibirsk resident was initiated in February 2023. Ego is being tried by a military court at a visiting session in Novosibirsk.
- Since January of this year, Arslanov has been on the register of extremists and terrorists of Rosfinmonitoring, his bank cards have been blocked.
