The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, announced a “critical understaffing” of the department’s personnel. According to him, only last month 5 thousand people resigned from internal affairs bodies.
Kolokoltsev did not specify what the reason for such an outflow of personnel is. He only added that “a colossal burden is placed on the employees, but this is the case when they worked according to the principle of “fight not with numbers, but with skill”.”
At the same time, as noted by the Russian service of the BBC, Russia is still among the world leaders in terms of the number of policemen per capita. At the beginning of this year, there were 635 police officers for every 100,000 Russians. For comparison: in the USA by 2020, there were 242 employees of law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and CIA, for every 100 thousand people, in England – 227, in China – 143.
- Last November, Vladimir Kolokoltsev already complained about the lack of personnel. Then he said that the department lacks 90,000 employees, and in Moscow, the number of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has halved in ten years. As one of the solutions to the problem, Kolokoltsev suggested providing employees with free housing.
