The head of VTB Andrey Kostin earns about a billion rubles a month. This is stated in the “Important Stories” investigation.
The publication analyzed publicly available data from the tax service on the incomes of Russians. According to the received information, Kostin’s income for 2020 amounted to almost 11.5 billion rubles.
The head of VTB received two billion from the United Grain Company. The banker received a million rubles each from the World Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Rosneft. Kostin received the rest of the money from VTB, the publication says.
From the leak, it is not clear what part of the money Kostin received as a salary, and what part – due to dividends or other payments.
Kostin has been in charge of VTB since 2002. “Vazhnye istorii” reminds us that earlier he was regularly included in the rating of the most expensive top managers of Russia according to Forbes, which was published in 2012-2017.
In 2014, the banker took first place in the rating. According to journalists’ calculations, that year the head of VTB earned 37 million dollars (approximately one and a half billion rubles at the exchange rate of 2014. Then Kostin called the Forbes information complete nonsense and stated that his annual income was 240 million rubles.
