Government agencies ordered imported cars worth 53 million rubles

Over the past week, Russian state institutions have announced at least six tenders for the purchase of imported cars. The total amount of the state order amounted to more than 53 million rubles. At the same time, a week ago, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, demanded that officials switch to domestically produced cars.
According to the publication “Vyorstka”, among the customers are the sanatorium “Sochi” owned by the president’s administration, the Mordovia JSC “Razvytie sela”, established by the Ministry of Land of the region, FSUE “National Fisheries Resources” and other state structures. Car brands are not specified in all documents, but the prices correspond to premium class cars.
Putin demanded that officials use the products of the Russian auto industry, August 3. At a meeting with the heads of manufacturing enterprises, he said that ministries and departments had turned to him with a request to increase purchases of imported cars. “I said that this should be absolutely excluded, and all officials of the country should drive domestic cars,” the president said. The president’s statement is not supported by any written orders.
